Who's involved?
North Star Financials was created by Jake Shebitz. Jake grew up in a small town in Northern California and has spent most of his adult life in the wine industry in Napa Valley, California. Jake is a bit of a hobby collector, including photography, snowboarding, mountain biking, camping, backpacking and hiking with his dog. Basically anything active and outdoors! Although he also loves to read books and watch amazing movies and T.V. shows. In addition, Jake is a huge nerd when it comes to personal finance. In his free time he regularly reads finance books, blogs and articles, or listens to money-related podcasts or YouTube channels - just for fun! After 15 years in the wine industry, Jake sensed something pulling him towards creating more impact in the world; he just didn't know exactly what that would look like. How would his skillset and interests translate into improving the world? Through many conversation with friends, tons of self-reflection, mentorship, coaching, meditation and even mini-workshops, the idea of money coaching emerged. And North Star Financials was born.
Why "North Star Financials?"
The name North Star Financials was inspired by the iconic star in the sky, The North Star (aka Polaris), that has been used to help adventurers and explorers navigate using the sky for centuries. The North Star is unique in that it holds almost perfectly still as the entire northern sky rotates around it. It is considered true north. Because of this, travelers and explorers could use it to guide their path regardless of whether they were sailing massive oceans or crossing vast deserts. In this way, it can be seen as an anchor, or a guide. A way to find one's way while lost, and a way to provide comfort and protection while exploring new areas or opportunities. In the financial space, North Star Financials is working to be that anchor, that guide. To be a dependable place to turn when help is needed and to help you navigate the chaos and dangers of life, whether you're lost or just exploring.​
